Windows Phone 7 for GSM only ?

Technology News, Windows Phone 7 Microsoft has opted to delay until next year the CDMA version as it works to finish work on its major rewrite of its phone operating system.
"We had to make some trade-offs," senior product manager Greg Sullivan told CNET today. "Even Microsoft doesn't have unlimited resources. We had to prioritize doing fewer things, really, really well."
The company made the decision to delay the CDMA version earlier this year but had declined to publicly confirm it until now. While GSM is much more widely used in Europe, the decision means that Windows Phone 7 won't be available on two of the four major U.S. networks at launch--Sprint and Verizon.Technology News

"For the worldwide market, the vast majority of phones are GSM phones, so we focused on GSM first and then plan to deliver an update that will have great CDMA support in the first half of 2011," Sullivan said. "That's device availability in the first half and we're very confident of that. That's probably a conservative estimate." Technology News

The decision to go public about the CDMA delay follows a comment from Verizon Wireless that it would not have phones running the operating system this year. Because Microsoft has delayed the CDMA version, that means Windows Phone 7 also won't be running on Sprint this year, leaving AT&T and T-Mobile as the major potential U.S. launch partners. AT&T has talked about its plans to be part of the Windows Phone 7 launch. Sullivan declined to say if T-Mobile would have devices at launch.Thats Technology News

Windows Phone 7 to hit Broadway

Technology News, Windows Phone 7 launch in 11 oct, but rather a consumer-focused "open house" similar to a holiday event Microsoft held last year in New York, according to a source familiar with the company's plans. Further details on the October event were not immediately available.

Windows Phone 7 from a number of makers are expected to take center stage at Microsoft's October 11 consumer open house in New York. LG has received Federal Communications Commission approval to start selling this Windows Phone device.

While Windows Phone 7 will be a major focus, the open house won't necessarily mark the availability of phones running the new operating system. Devices running Windows 7 are being prepped by a number of handset makers, including LG, Samsung, and HTC, and are expected to hit the market starting next month. Some devices have already gotten approval for sale from the Federal Communications Commission.
After years of development--and several reboots along the way--Microsoft finalized the code for Windows Phone 7at the beginning of this month. The new operating system is a radical departure from past versions of the device, which were focused on business users. The new-look Windows Phone 7 aims to compete for the hearts and wallets of consumers by centering on design and ease of use, as well as connections to Xbox Live and the Zune music service.

Microsoft releases Windows Phone 7 to manufacturers

Technology News Today : Windows Phone 7 is one step closer to launch, as Microsoft released its revamped mobile operating system for manufacturing on Wednesday.
With most of the internal engineering done, Windows Phone 7 OS RTM is now available to its OEM (original equipment manufacturers) and service provider partners, so they can complete their work on customizations and hardware in preparation for a holiday release.

Terry Myerson, Microsoft's corporate vice president of Windows Phone Engineering, wrote on the Windows Phone 7 Team Blog that Windows Phone 7 is the company's most thoroughly tested mobile platform, noting that it has run daily automated tests on nearly 10,000 devices with more than 3.5 million hours of stress test passes and 8.5 million hours of fully automated test passes.
Though Microsoft is just releasing the RTM now, OEMs and carriers have had builds in testing for some time and a technical preview was released to developers back in mid-July. Since then, Microsoft has received much response from the testers and has made some additional tweaks to Windows Phone 7 based on the feedback, with most of the enhancements centered on the People Hub.

Hot in Windows phone 7

Microsoft often throws around the phrase "it just works" as a design goal for a new piece of software. In practice, however, the products rarely live up to that billing. That said, Microsoft appears to be pretty close with Windows Phone 7.

Although the software is not final and it is running on prototype hardware (in my case the Samsung Taylor), its clean look isn't interrupted by error messages, hiccups, or other form breaks.
Above all, Windows Phone 7 is--dare I say--elegant. Even my foreign-language spam looks beautiful on the device. It almost makes me wish I understood all those messages in Japanese, Korean, and Arabic.
Its beauty is more than skin deep, too.

Windows Phone 7, One of the things I demand in a phone is that it behave like a portable consumer electronic device, not like a tiny computer. It should be instant on, easy to navigate without too much thought, and hide nearly all its complexity. To me that's what made the original iPhone and all its successors such a hit. (It's also why I think the iPad poses a serious challenge in the market for highly portable computing, but that's another story.)
With Windows Phone 7, Microsoft doesn't make up for all of its years of lost ground in this area, but what it does, it does very well.

iPad get iOS 4.2 in November

During Apple's music event, Steve Jobs gave a brief preview of iOS 4.2, the iOS update iOS 4.2 that will finally bring the iPad up to speed. In November, the update will finally bring the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad up to the same iOS version, and it will also bring Game Center to the iPad.

Other new features revealed were few and far between, other than the multitasking that iPhone 4 users already enjoy. Wireless printing and AirPlay, a wireless streaming function that will work with music, photos and video. Not much information was given, but it seems like a nice addition. Unfortunately, some of our iPad iOS 4.2 fantasies don't seem to have been met. Maybe they still will (fingers crossed) iOS 4.2.

Windows Mobile 7

Technology News : Windows Mobile 7

Microsoft released  Windows Mobile 7 a lot of exciting and new information regarding their new mobile platform at the MIX 2010 conference.  Windows Mobile 7 has the following minimum spec requirements:

Capacitive Touch: 4 or more contact points
Sensors: A-GPS, Accelerometer, Compass, Light, Proximity
Camera: 5 megapixels or more, Camera with a flash and dedicated camera button
Multimedia: Common detailed specs, Codec acceleration
Memory: 256 MB, 8 GB Flash or more
GPU: DirectX 9 acceleration
Processor: ARMv7 Cortex/Scorpion or better
2 screen sizes: 480×800 WVGA, 480×320 HVGA
Keyboard: Optional
Hardware Buttons: Must be fixed on the face

Remember, these are MINIMUM requirements. As you can see, at least in my opinion, this is great news. The main technical aspect I am concerned about is the CPU or processor. If you know your processors, you might know that the ARMv7 is a kind of processor technology that focuses on power conservation. In 2007, 98% of all mobile phones used a processor that used ARM technology. The Nexus One and iPhone uses these processors as well. Mobile processors have only advanced in efficiency since 2007. Microsoft went ahead and made ARMv7 CPUs a firm requirement for  Windows Mobile 7. The Cortex/Scorpion processors range from 600 MHz all the way to 1.5GHz. Because of the advancing core speeds, we can almost certainly see streaming HD movies and video on the rise in 2010 and with the release of  Windows Mobile 7 devices.

Toshiba Android tablet due September

Technology News : Toshiba Android Digitimes reports plans from Toshiba to produce an Android-based touch-screen tablet computer, due out in September or October of 2010.
The report is light on details, but claims the Toshiba tablet will include a 10-inch screen and run on an Nvidia Tegra 2 processor. Critical specs, such as price, battery life, and 3G compatibility, are all still unknown.
Putting aside convertible laptops and the dual-screen Libretto W100, news of the upcoming Android tablet is the best evidence we've seen of Toshiba's commitment to the tablet since 2009's 7-inch JournE tablet, shown above. The timing of the proposed tablet is also worth noting, since it has the potential to beat the rumored Google Chrome tablet to market with a one-two month lead.

Reverse phone lookups - Are They Useful

If you are hearing people talking about "reverse phone search", you may wonder what they are talking about. A reverse phone look up is, if you get a phone number, no matter it is a landline or cell phone, you enter it into a phone number search website to get the information of the owner of this number, such as the name, address. You can even get some more information like the age of the individual. Now you have the idea what a reverse phone search is. Now you may think if this kind of search is useful, and if people want to use this service? The answer is "yes". People actually need this service very much, and it is really useful.

1. Reverse phone number look up delivers useful results for users
It is well known that the reverse phone number lookup delivers very useful information to its users. Simply enter the home phone or cell phone number, it will provide the name and address of the owner in just a few moments. This is a convenient option for people who have a missed call on the caller ID, and want to find out who is calling. You may wonder why not simply call the number to see who it is. There may be many reasons. One case is that you want to know the caller before you call him back, in case the caller is a phone spammer.

2. Reverse phone number look up includes cell phone search
It is not difficult to run a reverse phone number look up for a landline phone. But in the past it was quite difficult to figure out the owner's information for a cellular phone. Now, web sites which provide the reverse phone look up also provide information for cell phones. Some websites can automatically detect whether a phone number belongs to a home phone, or a cell phone, so you can just enter the number. While some other websites were designed for cell number or home number only, so you have to find out what type of phone it is, or just test it. No matter which kind of sites you use, the ability of searching a cell phone number is very helpful.

3. Reverse phone number look up sites are very simple to use
There is one more very important advantage of reverse phone number look up: These sites are quite simple to use. If you go to a reverse phone number search website, you may often see a web page with three blanks. What you need to do is to enter the area code in the first space, and next 3 digits in the second blank, and the last 4 digits in the last space. Then you just click a "Search" button, or a similar word, and you will instantly receive the result, such as the name and address of the phone owner, or probably some preliminary reports, like the city, state information, and phone type, i.e., landline phone or cellular phone.
