Windmill Parts - A Brief Overview, Explained

Have you made the decision to build your own windmill electricity? Many people the world over are now taking advantage of the wind to produce electricity at their homes.
However, windmill turbines will require some basic and simple maintenance over the years.
Therefore, to help you along your way, I want to show you some of the windmill parts which will make up your electric windmill:
Tower - This can be made of wood on smaller windmills and it is what holds the windmill up into the air.
Blades - Usually a home windmill will have 2 blades. However, to gain more energy, you may add another 1 or 2 blades to your windmill.
Generator - This is main body that actually produces the electrical power.
Anemometer - This measures the speed and strength of the wind which will in turn, determine how fast the blades are rotating.
Pitch - Pitch is the "tilt" of the blades, or the angle that the blades are at. These must be set to specific angles.
Rotor - The rotor is usually attached to the generator shaft and it is what the blades and hub are attached to.
Wind Vane - This is the "tail" that ensures the windmill is pointed into the wind. Important for maximum power generation.
Remember - these are very basically the windmill parts required for you to build your own unit at home.
There are others of course but these are the most important one you will need to know about. Further details are available in the build manuals.
If you have been considering building your own electric windmill for your home or business, you could not choose a more simple alternative home energy source. You can literally save thousands on your bills and help protect the environment at the same time.
