All About Pink Laptops

I bet you never thought you would see the day when pink laptops were so popular. In fact, I'd be willing to bet you never thought you would want one. After all, pink makes such a statement and who wants to be noticed for having a laptop that's pink? I confess that I too, was one of those people who would not be caught dead with a pink laptop.

Well not anymore.

Look around you and you will see laptops of all different colors and sizes being used by both men and women. Men and women who aren't afraid to make a statement; who aren't afraid to be noticed. And you noticed, didn't you? And that is what makes a laptop so cool: the color pink.

I bet you didn't know that pink is one of the most popular laptop colors on the market today, and that its popularity rapidly continues to grow. More and more you see pink notebook owners sporting their laptop proudly at their favorite Starbucks coffeehouse, or their favorite Atlanta Bread sandwich shop. This is testament of pink being such a popular laptop color and once you set your eyes on one, you will understand why.

As the retail market shows us, customizing our technology to suit our personalities has quickly become a way of life. Colored cell phones, iPods and their color coordinated docking stations, Digital Cameras, and now, computer laptops. So why not color match your modern technology? Pink is such vibrant color that is both classy as sassy, and always associated with fun. It's subtle yet bold; soft yet daring; and I for one, can't get enough pink!

There are several name brand pink laptops available on the market today: Sony laptops (the Sony CR series; the Sony VAIO FZ Series, and the exceptionally portable Sony VAIO TZ series); Dell laptops (the Dell Inspiron, and the Dell Mini Netbook series); Acer laptops (several pink color variations, as well as the Acer Aspire Pink Netbook); Asus laptops (a small affordable pink notebooks called the Eee PC); and more being introduced regularly. Why? Because manufacturers know that pink is the new "it" color of choice, and surely you don't want to be left out of the in-crowd by not having one of your very own.

But don't go thinking that if you get a pink laptop of your very own that you will blend into the masses; you won't. Why? Because a pink laptop not only reflects that you have style, but it reflects your inner self, your inner spunk. And it's this "inner" individuality combined with a really cool pink laptop that will make you stand out and have others take notice of YOU.

Good Laptop Cases For Good Causes

Whoever imagined that computers and their accessories can progress to a stage of having his and her versions? Similar to bathroom towels, laptop cases can either be gender specific or otherwise. Perhaps the drive to include all these devices and their associated implements to complement one's outlook in life are part and parcel in creating the supply and demand cycle. The male species will probably gravitate towards more gruff and darker versions with clear-cut shapes and angles with the occasional veering away for space-age looks. The gentler sex may favor gentler lines and lighter colors. There is also a preference for cuts and designs which resemble conventional handbags as they then form part of one's accessories or complement the fashion ensemble.

Although these mobile computer carriers originated in plain and black versions, very much like the Ford Model T, they have progressed to include every possible color in the spectrum to suit each user's taste and flavor of the month. Shapes and sizes have also evolved to accommodate the housing needs of various computers. Since many a user tends to treat them as multi-purpose containers, computers as well as other gadgets, papers and others make their way into these cases. These laptop cases tend to resemble overstuffed farm animals ready for a good roast in the oven.
In line with the world's drive towards more ecological awareness, some manufacturers have made great efforts in research and development of environmentally-friendly initiatives. In producing green materials from natural fibers which exist in agricultural environments, they then use these renewable resources to manufacture the cases. Requiring a smaller carbon footprint during the production process, these factors help to protect the ecology from further duress. Other corporate social responsibilities taken on include support of various causes in promoting research work towards development of cures for medical conditions and eradication of diseases. It is therefore interesting to note that not all are in the business for the sole purpose of making money. By demonstrating awareness and active participation in supporting good causes, whoever knew that a simple matter of selecting and purchasing mobile computer carriers can help save the world?

Fast, Agile, and Powerful, the New Lenovo G460

We have just finished testing our new Lenovo G460 notebook which we received early this morning. We are very happy with the results and would like to share them with you, our readers. We know you are interested in all the latest laptops and perhaps even seek to compare them with your own laptop. We are here to provide you accurate information based entirely on thorough testing. So let’s start with our first impressions after receiving the laptop. After opening the box, we found a small yet stylish notebook that didn’t look anything like the powerful beast we were expecting. Its elegant lines and small display don’t give it the appearance of a powerful and agile laptop. However, things are usually not as they look like.
We started by testing the component where everything starts, the central processing unit. The Lenovo G460 comes with a very potent Intel Core i3 350M processor running at a high speed of 2.26 GHz. Its versatility is enhanced by the large, 1066 MHz front side bus (FSB) and the 3 MB L2 cache. We were not very surprised when this processor passed all our tests without encountering any difficulties. Even our most resource intensive tests were passed immediately. This leaves us no option but to happily give the Lenovo G460 its first 10 out of 10 points.
Next it was time to test the memory. We did notice that the Lenovo G460 passed the first test faster than most of its competitors, but didn’t understand why. Well, until we took a look at its memory. 4 GB of PC3 8500 DDR3 random access memory (RAM) made even the hardest tests look easy for this agile and super-quick notebook. Its 1066 MHz frequency convinced us to give out the second 10 out of 10 rating. And just when we were having so much fun, the laptop disappointed us with its slow hard disk drive. Spinning at just 5400 rotations per minute, the 500 GB HDD is large enough to accommodate all your files, but slow enough to impact the overall performance of our new laptop. We are forced to give it just 8 out of 10 points for this.
Lenovo G460′s Intel HD Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) is a highly versatile video card. However, it is forced to output a maximum resolution of just 1366 x 768 on the notebook’s 14.0 inch WXGA display. However, it benefits from the LED Backlight TFT technology, compelling us to give a 9 out of 10 rating here.
The Lenovo G460 is a very versatile laptop capable of passing even the most exigent of tests due to its powerful processing unit and high speed RAM. However, like in many Lenovo notebooks, the slow hard drive and low resolution display are clear issues.

Recycling a Laptop - Are There Any Security Issues?

If you are looking to recycle a laptop for cash you may be wondering if there are any security-issues involved in this.
The main security worry that people have is with regards to the personal data that is stored on their laptop.
Many people might not know how to erase the data from the laptop hard-drive. Other may not be completely confident that trying to erasing themselves will be definitely erase all the data stored on there.
If your laptop is refurbished and then sold on to someone else will they be able to view any of the personal data you had stored on there? The short answer to this question is no.
All personal data will be erased by the refurbishment company. If you are giving your laptop to a recycling company, such as Mirror Go Green, they have the appropriate software to ensure all this data is cleared. They use the internationally recognised Blancco software on every laptop they receive.
How does Blancco software work?
As you can guess from the name Blancco it basically "blanks" the computer memory.
The computer memory is laid out in different chunks on the hard drive. The software firstly unprotects all these chunks. This enables all the information you have stored to be wiped from each chunk.
These chunks are then filled with blank information. This process is repeated until each chunk of memory is full of blank information.
If someone attempted to recover any information the only thing recovered would be the blank information that was replaced by the blancco software.
So if you were in any way worried about the security of recycling a laptop then you have 100% percent peace of mind.

Choosing A Laptop As Your Primary Computer

Many people are turning to laptops as their primary computer because of it's convenience and mobility. However, when you are thinking of getting a laptop to replace a desktop computer there are a few tips that will help you to get the system that will meet your needs and requirements more effectively.
SIZE
When you are looking at laptops, it is important to pay attention to the size of the screen. When a laptop becomes your primary computer, the comfort and ease with which you can see the screen will affect how functional your laptop computer is. If you are going to be using your laptop to read and type documents, having a screen that has good contrast and brightness and is large enough to see easily, will be very beneficial for dedicated use.
MEMORY
If you are going to use a laptop as your primary computer, getting enough memory will be an important factor in deciding on the system. While there are laptops that are very lightweight and small, these often do not have the capabilities that you will need from a primary computer. Make sure when you are comparing computers that the systems you place on your final list have slots to add memory. It is much cheaper to add a memory card than to replace an entire computer.
BACKUP
An important factor in selecting your system is that you have all of the programs on you system that you will need as well as more than the standard 2 USB ports. When you get your system, it will be helpful to get an external drive to back-up your system on a regular basis. Keeping your back-up drive in a location away from your computer bag will assure that your data is not lost or damaged if your computer or bag are damaged.
MOBILITY
While laptops are extremely convenient for use in a comfortable chair, you will need to invest in a portable desk made specifically for laptops. When these computers are used on a lap, they can get hot and ruin your computer. The systems must have airflow completely around the computer when it is being used.

The Benefits of a Laptop

Gone are the days when businessmen needed desktop computers in their office, and in their home office to finish their work. Today, everywhere they go, they can bring their work with them in this little and genius piece of technology created by man: the laptop. Laptops are man's best friend when it comes to getting the work done. Time, effort and space are saved with this technology. Everywhere you look, in coffee shops, restaurants even in parks, people are able to do away with their work because of the laptop's portability.
In Canada and in most parts of the world, laptops are not just a luxury, they are a necessity. Since a laptop is portable, it can be used anywhere; from office to homes, hallways, while on a moving vehicle, in libraries, and in almost any place you can think of, you can bring your laptop with you.

3 Simple Ways to Maximize Your Laptop's Battery Life

The original title of this article was going to be something along the lines of "Why does my laptop's battery life suck?" because that is exactly the question most of us ask once our battery life starts getting shorter and shorter. It isn't uncommon to find an old laptop that has a lifespan of about 20 minutes. They are basically nothing more than an expensive Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS). This seriously limits the laptop's portability.
Jerry Foutz is a respected power supply designer who provided much of the information for this article.
It turns out that the most important factor for maximizing your battery life is something most of us would never have thought of: matching your battery to the right charger. According to Jerry, you need to be sure that the charger and battery match and that the charger is of high quality. Really, the only thing you can do to ensure this is to buy your laptop supplies from the manufacturer and only buy them for your exact model.
The truth is that even a tiny difference in output voltage between chargers can have a serious effect on the overall lifespan of your battery by either over- or under-charging the battery.
You can get a cheaper charger almost anywhere, but if it is off by even as little as 10 millivolts, you will get less of a charge and will not get optimum performance. For example, a 4.1V battery charged with a 4.05V charger will be good for about 4,000 charges. Increasing the voltage of the charger to 4.250 volts, can reduce that number to less than 100!
Not only is it a good idea to purchase chargers and extra batteries from the laptop manufacturer, but it is best to purchase these things at or close to the same time as you get your laptop. This will reduce the chances of manufacturing changes or differences within the accessories.
The second important aspect of battery life is temperature.
It's strange but true: laptops are not actually designed for laps. Looking at the bottom of a laptop shows rubber bumpers or feet, which keep it lifted off of surfaces just enough for proper ventilation. Once that space is blocked (for example, by putting it on your lap), you close that space and the laptop is forced to run much hotter than it should. Doing this on a regular basis will probably shorten the life of the laptop's battery.
As a general rule, if your laptop top is burning you or is too hot to be comfortable in your lap, the cooling system is being interrupted and you are shortening its lifespan.
Instead of placing the laptop directly in your lap, try using a laptop desk, which are designed to rest in your lap but still allow the laptop sufficient airflow.
You also want to avoid temperature cycling (allowing your laptop to get very warm and very cold repeatedly) can also seriously damage your battery life. This means you should try to avoid leaving your laptop in the elements or even in your car on a very hot or cold day.
One common concern is whether leaving the laptop plugged in too long would damage the battery. Today's models, however, are made for this type of practice, so it is a non-issue.
Of course, all of this advice assumes your laptop has a well designed power supply and charger. Some lower end models are not perfect and our common minds may not be able to tell the difference. Most of us just have to trust that the manufacturers know what they're doing.

Why Do Companies Give Free Apple Laptop Accessories?

This brief article will give some information on why companies give free Apple laptops with accessories and what exactly are the people required to do to receive such accessories.
Customers will not have to spend $2,000 to get a good Apple laptop anymore. Many websites are willing to give out free samples to you in return for very little help. You can get these free samples from many websites and you will also be able to get some free accessories. Getting these things is very easy and there are no hidden agendas or schemes behind the entire procedure.
Many people might still be viewing this offer with suspicion. The truth is it is quite possible to get a free Apple laptop and even accessories without having to spend a single cent. There are many reasons why companies choose to give out Apple laptops as free samples. One of the main reasons is to get publicity. Even though Apple products are the best in the electronics world, many people are still not aware of the products and their services. By giving out free laptops, the company hopes that the people who receive it will get a good impression about the products of the company. Some of the websites which do give out such free samples might also ask the person who receives it, to give out a brief survey, in which there will be questions regarding the product. Some websites might also ask the person to write a review about the product.
The company also gives out free Apple laptop accessories to the people. They do this as it will help them get valuable information about the preferences of the people so that they can create better products. Some of the accessories like software packages are also given out for free. The company does so because if there are any defects in the software, they get a chance to correct those flaws before they sell the software to people. Even though product promotion is the main reason behind several websites giving out these free accessories, some of the websites also give out free Apple laptop accessories for this reason as well.
People will be able to find numerous websites which will give out free Apple laptop accessories; but people will have to choose the website cautiously, as some of them might give out elaborate tasks which a person might have to finish before getting the accessories.
