Disc Copier - How To Choose One

Disc copiers have been used in manufacturing since the late 80's. They have been primarily used for the mass production of computers. The disc copier device is different from disc copying software. Disc copiers are stand-alone devices that have data copy and transfer functions. They can perform operations from various sources of data like hard disks, CDs or DVDs.
Now, this technology is no longer limited to manufacturing. The widespread use of discs makes a disc copier used in many industries. They are more often used for businesses. However, there are also personal models available in the market. Choosing the right one mainly depends on what it will be used for. There are several features to consider in choosing one.

Capacity
Like other storage devices, a disc copier does not have unlimited capacity. A personal version can have up to 2 TB (terabytes) of data capacity. Additional storage capacity is also something to consider. There are models that have additional expansion slots to increase their capacity.
Capacity is not limited to its data storage capacity. Another factor to consider is the number of input or output connections it can have. How many discs it can process at a time.
Speed
In the world of manufacturing, speed plays an important role. Therefore even with disc copier models, speed is an important feature to consider. There are models that have a transfer rate of 1.5 GB/min (gigabytes per minute). Much faster ones can transfer at a rate of 18 GB/min. There are models that can copy a windows operating system in just 2 minutes. That's how fast it can go.
This speed remains constant even if many discs are processed at once.
Type Of Connection
As mentioned, there are disc copier models that only copy CDs or DVDs. However, there are also models that can copy to and from hard disks and other storage media. The type of connections it supports, therefore, matters.
There are also disc copier models that have to be connected to a computer. They work like a printer. On the other hand, there are also stand-alone devices that can work as is.
Physical Design
The physical design might be an issue for some people. If it is tower-like, it certainly won't be ideal for mobility. There are smaller and medium-sized versions. Some are as big as printers. Those are not as difficult to move around as the tower-like modules.
Capabilities
Dealing with discs, some disc copier models allow cover design and printing. Using these, a person can personalize the disc design. If it is to be used solely for CD or DVD copying, this might be a good feature to have. Blue-ray disc support might also be another feature to consider.
These are some features to consider in purchasing a disc copier. How it will be used certainly plays a big factor in the choice of features. There are a variety of models from various manufacturers to choose from. However, it does have one consistent feature. Compared to software solutions, this device has a lot more to offer. In mass production, software counterparts simply cannot compare.
Hard Drive Duplicator, a great tool for forensics, system rollout and mass cloning, just might be what you need to keep years' worth of work safe. I have a website that gives more information about disc copiers and why some people find them essential. Check it out, and get one now!

The Importance of Backing Up Files on an External Hard Drive

There's nothing worse than your computer packing in when you haven't backed up all of your important files. Despite the increase in reliable and intelligent technology, some computers will still crash, and ultimately let us down.
Whether it's those precious family photographs, important work files, or video and audio files, it's really important to keep a back up just for that worst case scenario.
There's lots of simple ways you can do this, depending on the amount of files you want to back up. One way is using a USB memory stick. These are ideal for backing up a moderate amount of information and allows you to easily transport it around with you to work, or university.
Alternatively if you want to store a lot of data, whilst still being able to easily transport your files around with you, a great option is an external hard drive. These are a fantastic way of backing up the files you want to keep safe, whilst also freeing up space on your main computer. Removing files to make room for new files came become a tiresome and mundane task very quickly. By transferring some of the files from your main hard drive to an external hard drive, it keeps them safe in case anything happens to your computer, and also frees up some of that much needed storage space.
External hard drives are really easy to use; you simply connect it to your computer and transfer the files across. They are usually lightweight too; no-one wants to be carrying around extra weight if you don't have to!

The type of files you want to back up, and how many files you want to store will determine what size you need. You can find a whole range to suit your size, budget, or style requirements. Most people opt for a 500Gb hard drive allowing you to store thousands of files, songs, or pictures. If you have lots of movie or video files and you still need more than this, you can go up to a 1 or 2Tb hard drive. Tb means Terabyte is a huge 1000 Gigabytes. This size is for those of you who have a serious amount of files to be backed up.
You can get external hard drives in an array of colours, and there is definitely something to suit everyone's budget. It really is worthwhile investing in an external hard drive if want to free up some storage space, and keep those important files safe and sound.
As a final option, if you are confident in customising your own computer, you can also buy an internal hard drive and add it in yourself!

DVD Recorders: Getting Started

IMO, these sd work 'like a VCR' as far as recording and playback. There are models w/ harddrives, VHS players, etc. built in, but to me that's overboard.
Bells and Whistles
The VHS option is not bad, but you most likely already have one you can plug into the inputs of the DVD recorder.
I have a DVD recorder for archiving TiVo shows as opposed to accessing my TiVo from my PC. This is nice because it means I can also archive VHS tapes, camcorder tapes, etc. w/no extra work.
I do have a TV card in my PC so I can do this, but using the DVD recorder is easier.
My motto is: buy what you WILL use and not what you CAN use.
I've bought lots of things that CAN do a lot, but in reality I don't use all the extra features. Not in all cases, but in this case, I say pass on the bells and whistles.
Again, there are models w/ all types of features, but if you buy one that is a DVR, DVD recorder, VCR, TV tuner all in one and one part breaks, it's all broke.

Realize Something About Technology
Remember - this is new technology and will only get better and cheaper. If you buy the top of the line today, it's going to be out of date and/or cheap tomorrow. Test the waters w/ a 'good' model and upgrade when the time is right.
Editing Your Recordings
Chances are - you won't. It's a pain for the most part and usually requires DVD-RAM or DVD-RW discs to do it and they're more expensive. If you have a lot of free time for this, you're a rare person.
I was looking for this type of solution in getting ready for having a baby and I knew I wasn't going to be sifting through and editing hours of video.
If you're really interested in editing, look in to PC options. Pinnacle, ArcSoft, Adobe, etc. - they have good solutions for that.
DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RAM, DVD-RW
DVD+R and DVD-R are like VHS and Beta: they're both ok right now, but eventually we'll probably land on one or the other. It seems to be leaning towards DVD-R which tend to be less expensive also.
Many recorders and players do both, but cost more. I say save some money, pick one (probably DVD-R) and move on. If you pick the wrong one, chances are in a couple years you'll be buying a new one anyway. Moreover, you'll probably be able to get a cheap one w/ a built in converter or two trays to duplicate one to the other.
DVD-RAM and DVD-RW are the rewritable types. They're more expensive and for my purposes aren't worth worrying about.
My Recommendation
I got the Panasonic DMR-E55K:
It records to DVD-R like a VCR. I don't use it to record live TV so I don't use VCR+, but it has it. Also, it has TimeSlip which lets you watch something while it's recording (start recording "24" at 8pm and start watching it from the begining at 8:20 to speed thru commercials like a TiVo). Again, I don't use this, but it has it.
Plain and simple, it records my TiVo, camcorder, digital camera (RCA cable output), VCR, etc. to DVD - that's what I want it to do and that's what it does. It's easy, creates a good menu w/ thumbnails and my chosen titles, it's a name brand w/ good reviews and was fairly cheap (there was a rebate at the time).
Also, it plays CDs and mp3 CDs w/ a good interface so not only does it replace a CD player, but since you can put so many songs on one CD, it replaces a CD changer.
An interesting trick: If you have a digital camera w/ RCA cable output, you can hook it directly into the dvd recorder and create a quick slide-show dvd. Many cameras even have a slide show function built in! You can use the sound from a music channel, CD, etc.
Summary
If you're going gung-ho into all the nitty gritty about DVD recorders, you're either just starting here or haven't bothered to read this far. If you're looking for a good, relatively cheap solution to digitize your tapes, archive TiVo, etc., I recommend the Panasonic DMR-E55K.

When talking of spy cams, one of the initial things that you would perhaps consider is James Bond films, possibly even conspiracy movies when you possess a mind that entertains such thoughts. Yet needless to say, they're not as out-of-this-world as Hollywood makes them to be. They're only surveillance cameras that are smaller than what we commonly notice. As a matter of fact, spy cams aren't meant to be noticed. That's why they're commonly little then put in casings made to look like the dullest objects such as ballpens, watches, lipsticks, sunglasses, even buttons.
A spy camera is a surveillance gadget used in situations where hidden surveillance is badly needed. For instance, you're doubting that one of your employees is dishonest in one form or another. To stop them from letting their guards up and allowing you to catch that certain individual in the act on record, you employ the use of a hidden spy camera to regulate your individuals without them learning about it. You can also opt to bring them around should the need arise by using wireless spy cameras. It's basically somewhat fundamental, but it gets the work done! Nanny cameras also became very popular forms of spy cameras after news of nannies as well as maids misbehaving and mistreating the children when the employers are not around.
A spy camera is available in numerous designs. There are a couple that are put in inanimate items made to blend into the common atmosphere rendering them hidden, such as those disguised as or concealed in lamps, clocks, or speaker systems; and spy cam glasses and button cameras which are also called body worn, mini spy cameras. Still a spy cam doesn't necessarily imply a little surveillance technology. A well-concealed, regular security camera could also be considered a spy cam.
These kinds of security cameras might be more dangerous than usual CCTV cams. At least, with the latter, you're aware that you are being videoed so you tend to get your act together. With hidden spy cams, you don't know when that tiny all-seeing eye is trained on you and there you are doing whatever you feel like doing. Which is the main objective of having spy cams: to find out what you are doing when you think nobody is watching. These tiny devices destroy marriages when a spouse is caught philandering, discredit an otherwise credible person, as well as bring down people in high statures.
As you may notice, when something as tiny as a mini spy camera may ruin a reputation, how sensitive can reputation be? I guess all we should do is take great care of it. However, respect can sometimes be so elusive. Temptation is a part of living, but if you surrender to temptation kindly, you're likely to leave out of the predicament unscathed, if you get into a mess at all! All I am saying is, get your act together before those concealed video cameras catch you. And when you have to give in, take into account the aftereffects. I'm sure you'll find a way around it.

HP Officejet 4500 - Modest But Still Effective

There are very few printers which are aware of its features and project itself on that basis. When compared to most of the other HP printers, HP Officejet 4500 is very modest in its offerings and it is aware of it too. The printer almost literally says I do not have many features to offer and I am good for those people who are not expecting a lot from their printers and want just basic functions. The HP Officejet 4500 might be very limited as far its features are concerned but HP has ensured one thing that irrespective of whatever little the printer has to offer, it must be offered to the best of its ability and no other player in the market should be able to replicate or even come closer to that quality.
As far as the technical specifications of the printer is concerned, there are quite a few to be mentioned. Some of them are color inkjet print technology, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi, RJ-11, etc. The maximum paper size is 8.5x14 inches. The maximum resolution for color is 4800x1200dpi and 600x600dpi for monochrome. The maximum scan resolution is 1200x2400dpi and it also has an Automatic Document Feeder. The LCD size is 2.5 inches with dimensions of 8.5x17.1x15.8inches. The total weight of the printer is 13 pounds.
This printer is very clearly targeted at a consumer who has very little expectations from a printer and someone who is not very familiar with one. Therefore, HP has ensured that HP Officejet 4500 is not only offered with limited features at a very modest price but also is easy to set up and function so that a novice does not find himself stuck while working with the machine. The text outputs are really good and the scanning are good as well.
The HP Officejet 4500 is light weight and is very compact as well. This ensures that the printer is portable and could be moved to any desired place in home or office whenever one wishes too. The usual problem that one faces with printers is the paper-jams. And the bigger problem is that one has to lift up the panel to clear the jam. But there are no such issues with HP Officejet 4500 as the rear is always open which makes it easier to deal with such jams. In short, if you are looking for a printer which is basic but gives excellent quality, then HP Officejet 4500 is what you should be looking for.
Tom recommends buying this HP Officejet 4500 printer.

All About ADSL Modem

ADSL stands for asymmetric digital subscriber line. It is a type of DSL broadband internet connection technology. One of its great achievements is more quantity of data which can be sent to already accessible copper telephone lines. They depict an advanced form of traditional modem lines. The hunger of the end-users for fast surfing speed of internet has led to many inventions in this modern time. ADSL modem is a perfect example to represent one of those inventions. There is a specific attachment of a special filter connected to the user's telephone line which enables both ADSL and genuine telephone services to be run in synchronization. This special filter is called micro filter.
The construction features of an ADSL calls for the services of subscribers and ADSL modem which should be kept in close geological vicinity to the internet service provider's central office. This is mandatory to avail the best services that people can attain from the asymmetry of the digital subscriber line. The distance between the ISP office and subscriber should be in a radius of maximum 2.5 miles. The upstream rate of ADSL is 16 to 640 Kbps and its downstream rate is 1.5 to 9 Mbps which makes it preferable over all the other connections available in end user's close proximity.
One of the significant parts of ADSL technology is represented by ADSL modem. This modem provides a popular and cost effective solution for end users. It enables the data transfer directly to the personal computer of the user. The cost of this modem varies according to the user's demand for the speed variations in the server. There are many options with the variations of upstream and downstream frequencies according to the capabilities and location of the users. The minimum available configuration is 1.5 Mbps and maximum is 8 Mbps. There is another in-between configuration of 6.1 Mbps along with 64 Kbps duplex.
ADSL modem is basically of three types. These three types are Ethernet, PCI and USB. The main advantage of ADSL modems that it can easily create multiple channels in order to transfer the data. For this, the ADSL modems divide the bandwidth available in two different ways - Echo cancellation and Frequency Division Multiplexing (FDM). The FDM, Frequency Division Multiplexing assigns 1 band for the upstream data while another for downstream data. So, it can be said that in spite of such balanced capabilities of ADSL modem, the internet users who use modems should not be frightened with technological capabilities of modem.
RealTime Systems Ltd. provides reliable networking products such as Lease line modems, enterprise routers, web cameras and many more. It also manufacturing and sales of IT networking, Telecom access and on-line ups.

Projector for iPad, What's Best?

Currently, there are very few projectors on the market that cater for iPads. With the emergence of the Keynote application and mobile video; projecting from the small 9.7" iPad screen onto 100" high res image that is visible on almost any surface has never been more important. Presentations, movies and a whole lot more can be viewed in greater detail and with a more immersive experience. If you are using the iPad with friends to watch a movie, or if you're presenting to a large audience, this impressive pocket-sized projector will leave them dumbfounded. If you're reading this but don't have an iPad, don't rush off - this kit is compatible with anything that has TV/Video-Out capability i.e. iPads, iPhones, iPods, Laptops, Desktops and a whole lot more including PSPs.
The cheapest option of the two, at around $300 is the MiLi Power Projector:
Resolution: VGA (640 x 480)
Brightness: 10 Lumens
Aspect Ratio: 4:3
Battery life: Up to 1.5 hours
Dimensions: 148(L)X70(W)X41(H)mm
The more slightly more expensive but it has to be said, more impressive projector is the SHOWWX. It's the leading technology in the iPad market and is causing a storm and certainly for the right reasons:
Resolution: WVGA (848 x 480)
Brightness: 10 Lumens
Aspect Ratio: 16:9 Widescreen
Battery life: 1.5 to 2 hours
Dimensions: 118(L)X60(W)X14(H)mm
The iPhone-sized SHOWWX really is perfect for portability and use with mobile devices; compare that to the MiLi which would be more suitable in a rucksack than in a pocket. The difference largely is in quality, with a higher resolution, longer battery life and a small size, the SHOWWX is ahead on all fronts. The only question is if you are willing to pay the relatively small added price tag.
If you're serious about using your iPad for movies, presentations, imagery or anything else visual - the SHOWWX really is the right option for you. http://www.ipadprojector.org/ has demonstrations, news and info on how you can get hold of this iPad Projector.

How to Reset Your Printer

Resetting the printer successfully does away with the allotted IP for that particular unit. This is functional in the installation of certain parts as well as in evading the errors and the problems which generally crop up within any printer. The procedure for resetting differs on the basis of the printer's make and its model too. Also, it is very important to verify the details which are specific to your printer's model before you begin.
1. Resetting Your HP Printer
To reset the laser printers of HP there is a technique called cold resetting which will aid you in adjusting each setting of the printer towards the levels of factory default. Remember that all settings which are made at the printer's control panel will be reset. So, if you have the JetDirect card your IP address will also be rearranged to the printer's factory defaults. For resetting the NVRAM you will have to switch off the HP printer and press 'Go' key for about twenty seconds while you switch your printer on.
For resetting the 1200 as well 1100 models of HP you will have to plainly alter the data. This has to be done through entering the service mode and it is relevant only if you have a display panel on your HP printer. Or else you will need to press its 'Go' key for nearly 5 seconds whilst your printer will be switched on. HP's 2100 switch off the printer and keep pressing its 'job cancel' button until you switch it on again. Repeat the same with the 'Go' button of HP 2200.
2. Resetting Your Dell Printer
The resetting of the Dell printers is quite easy. You will simply have to double-click on the icon called 'Reset Dell Printer'. To reach this particular icon you will have to click on one 'UAN' folder and then press 'System Utilities' to locate the icon. Note that this technique will work only when your USB cable is directly attached from your PC to your printer.
3. Resetting Your Lexmark Printer
To reset Lexmark printers you have to switch it off first. At the same time hold down the RETURN as well as the READY buttons while you switch your printer on. This will direct you towards the diagnostics mode. Unit of display will put on view a message called performing self test. Select maintenance count and reset count so as to get it to zero. Then choose the RETURN button and return to the diagnostics mode. By doing this you will be able to reset your printer to return it to its normal mode.
4. Resetting Your Brother Printer
Brother printers are reset by pressing its DOWN or UP keys few times until Maintenance 99 is shown on display. Then press the Set key to go on standby mode. Remember that by pressing Exit key subsequent to typing in the single figure the machine sets off into the maintenance mode during initial stages.
For details on how to reset printers, please refer to the manufacturer's manual.

How to Clean a LCD Screen?

Many of the desktop and laptops are having LCD screen. Here are some suggestions for cleaning the LCD screen of your gadgets. Always make sure that you clean the screen with a microfiber cloth. These clothes will remove the stains and dust. They will not spread the fingerprints and other markings on the screen. They are also cheaply available and will not cause any environment pollution.
While you are using devices having LCD screen you should be really careful. This screen is very sensitive made by a soft film that can be easily damaged if you are not handling it properly. Rough use and careless handling can damage the anti-glare coating of the cathode ray tube. The screen of Televisions and computers should be taken care of; they can be easily damaged with scratches. Just switch off the device before cleaning the screen. The plasma screens will have a glass covering to reduce the glare; this should also be carefully cleaned with a microfiber cloth.
Always use microfiber cloth to wipe the surface of the screen to remove the dust and fingerprints. Do not press too much while you are cleaning. For some dust particle that stick to the screen you can use a wet  cloth to clean it. Do not wet the cloth too much, it will spoil the screen. Do not use paper or other cloth to clean the screen, it may damage it. The cloth using for cleaning should not contain any sharp particles or sand in it, it may cause scratches in the screen. Just do not use any chemicals or polishes to clean the LCD screens.

HP LaserJet M1522n MFP Cartridge Review

The HP LaserJet M1522n MFP is a neat, desktop, mono laser machine, intended for the small or home office. In addition to providing full- colour scanning, it gives you HP's instant-on printing, that means there's no warm up time before printing starts.
In lots of ways it's a conventionally made multifunction machine which has an A4 flatbed scanner determining its width. There is a 50-sheet Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) on the top, which has a somewhat lightweight feed tray. Raise the ADF to reveal a complete A4 flatbed plus front of this there is a basic control panel.
In addition to a keypad on the left with regard to entering the amount of copies, there are control keys on the right of the two-line by 16-character Liquid crystal display offering basic modification of lightness and also darkness, number of copies and also printing quality. You may also expand and also reduce copies from the flatbed.
The laser printer portion of the device includes a protruding paper tray that may take as much as 250 sheets and incorporates a somewhat cumbersome multipurpose feed upon its top cover.
At the rear are sockets for USB 2. as well as Ethernet; this appliance can service a network in addition to being linked locally to an individual PC. Right after moving the scanner area upward, the combined toner and drum cartridge becomes accessible.
The supplied HP software handles printing, scanning and also copying and there's another copy of Readiris OCR in both Windows as well as Mac versions. The setup utility supplies a complete installation or express versions for just USB or merely network functionality.
Instant-on printing makes a stunning impact on the print and copy rate, printing begins nearly the moment the 'Printing' message presents itself on its control panel display and the first page is printed within 15 seconds.
Primarily because of the rapid start-up, the printing rates we saw were spectacular for a unit costing little more than £200. Our own five- page text print completed in 22 seconds while the five-page text and graphics test required one second less, giving printing rates of speed of 13.6ppm and 14.29ppm, respectively. In some ways, much more impressive were the 15 x 10cm picture prints, which concluded in 11 seconds, and also the photocopies, from glass and ADF, which needed 10 seconds and 14 seconds. These are among the best copy times we have seen.
The caliber of the prints from the HP LaserJet M1522m toner cartridge were generally superb having good, thorough black text and also dense black tones to lines as well as fills. Coloured tints behind black text were in addition produced relatively well, without indications of banding.
There's a weak spot in the LaserJet performance, though, and that is photocopy quality. Photocopy text is good, however regions of fill, particularly copied from print instead of the constant tone of a picture, are extremely terrible. The textures separate and come through much lighter or much darker compared to the originals. It is actually a bit better if you choose text, mixed or photo modes, making use of the quality button on the control panel, but it is still certainly not that decent.
HP employs an unfortunate trend, though, through supplying a 'starter' toner cartridge, which prints merely 1,000 pages.
It is really hard to know how to sum up the LaserJet M1522n MFP. We started off by truly being amazed with the printer's ease-of-use as well as the incredible print rates, but were brought back to earth by its dodgy copy quality. Most people investing in a multifunction printer plan to work with it at least to some extent as a photocopier. So long as you're only photocopying text, this ought to be alright, but copying graphics is actually something of a disappointment.

Monitor Video Card Temperature - An Overlooked Task

Everyone that owns a computer be it a laptop or desktop realizes that it is imperative that they need to keep their CPU cool so it does not overheat and cause a meltdown. What most people fail to realize however is that your video card temperature is just as important as the CPU.
This is a device that controls how you view things on your monitor. The latest hardware has been developed to create deeper and faster refresh rates and pixel rates due to the increasing gaming market. Many computers have the video card built into the motherboard, but gaming computers generally do not. It is important to monitor video card temperature in both settings.
In most laptops there are only a few brands of the graphic cards, which will make it much easier for one to monitor the video card temperature. With a desktop computer it may be a bit harder as in finding what card is installed. You can either find out the manufacturer by reading the manual that came with your computer or by locating the information in your device manager. This information you find at the manufacturers website will tell you what the optimal temperature should be.
Once you have found this information, you should now download a free utility that is created to only monitor video card temperature. Install it and then run. You will also want to check by running different benchmark tests. If your card shows signs that it is frequently over-heating it is best to take immediate action. A melt-down cause by an this overheated device can also cause other malfunctions.
In the event you do need to lower video card temperature there are a few options available. You can either do this yourself or consult a computer repair technician to do the work for you. It could be as simple as just opening up your tower and cleaning the internal fans or as difficult as adding a specialized heat sink to the graphic card. You may also want to consider adding thermal heating elements to the interior of your tower or even adding an extra fan or more powerful one. Laptop computers most likely will require you to have elements installed by a professional to help lower lower the temperature and install proper devices to help maintain the cooler temps.
If you are an avid gamer we highly recommend that you monitor video card temperature to ensure you do not cause a major meltdown of your components.
It is critical that you lower video card temperature to avoid overheating and possible meltdown. Get the info you may need concerning this article as well as CPU temp related issues.

HP keeps dealing, buys ArcSight for $1.5B

chart_ws_stock_hewlett-packardco.top.png

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Hewlett-Packard said on Monday that it has signed an agreement to buy ArcSight, Inc., a security software company, for $1.5 billion.
HP said that the purchase, at $43.50 per share, will allow the world's largest technology company to "improve security" and "reduce risk ... at a lower cost for customers."

ArcSight's (ARST) stock surged 26% after the opening bell, while HP (HPQ, Fortune 500) notched up slightly.
HP said that the deal is expected to be finalized by the end of the year.
This is the second company that HP has purchased this month. On Sept. 2, the company announced that it had concluded its bidding war with Del (DELL, Fortune 500)l for storage company 3PAR (PAR). HP ultimately agreed to buy 3PAR for $33 a share, or $2.35 billion.
HP also announced a deal in mid-August to purchase privately held software firm Fortify.
Meanwhile, HP is still searching for a permanent chief executive officer and recently filed suit against its former CEO, Mark Hurd, for joining Oracle (ORCL, Fortune 500) as co-president.
Hurd left HP in early August amidst allegations that he submitted false expense reports with the intent of concealing a personal relationship with a contractor who had also filed a sexual harassment claim against him.
HP's recent slew of deals have some speculating that the company is being aggressive to prove to investors that it's not a rudderless ship without Hurd at the helm. Analysts say that might be an added bonus of HP's dealmaking, but it's probably not the primary driver.
"HP had a pipeline, and the deals that they have made were possibly ones that Hurd had proposed," said Carl Howe, analyst at Yankee Group. "It's just going ahead with its business. A company can't complete acquisitions over just a few weeks."
The companies that HP has purchased since Hurd's resignation are the same kinds of businesses that it was buying during Hurd's tenure. HP has been snapping up storage, security, networking and software companies in an effort to expand beyond its core hardware business.
But the deal that drew the most skepticism was HP's drawn-out battle for 3PAR. Though the acquisition made strategic sense, the price HP paid for it was believed to be much higher than the cost-cutting Hurd would have offered.
"With 3PAR, you can make the case that it was important for HP to win after Hurd's departure," said Ron Gruia, principal consultant at Frost & Sullivan. "But with ArcSight, it's clearly a long-term play."
If HP is trying to instill confidence in its investors by buying up companies, the strategy hasn't worked: HP's stock is down 17.5% since Hurd resigned.

Which Mouse Pads Work Best For Me?

Whenever you buy a mouse pad, it's important that you match it up to the mouse you intend to use on it first. Have you ever had a mouse that was unable to work on certain mats and/or surfaces? Mouse pads that are dark in colour tend to work best for the optical mouse, for that reason, it's advisable that you take the time to find out what will work best for your mouse.
It's possible for you to get a customised pad, this way you can be sure that you'll get the best possible performance with your mouse on it. You can also have your own personal images printed on to these customised mats if you so please. The best pads are ones that are comfortable to use, even after great periods of time.
You may find that the more comfortable mats cost significantly more, but in essence, for the added comfort, it's well worth the price. If you get RSI, you'll realise how much of a horrible experience it can be. There are some mats that have little gel pads on them, these types are well favoured amongst many people. The gel pads can be used to support either your wrist or arm.
From personal observation and experience, I have found the plastic mouse pads to be the most uncomfortable for both your wrists and arms. I recommend a pad made out of cushioned material as standard. Ultimately, you might find that the best mouse pad for yourself is fairly expensive, but this shouldn't be enough to put you off. It's important that you opt for comfort over everything else.
Here are two personalised mouse pads that I recommend that you take a peek at:
Aqua
This mouse pad is promotional in nature with a stress-relieving, soothing gel-like overall finish to its surface area. It's possible to enhance the current artistic value of the mat by adding glitter or by shaping it into cool figures.
Hardtop
This pad is probably the most sellable in Europe. You can find these promotional mouse pads everywhere. Many companies opt for this pad because it's possible for you to print high definition imagery on the surface of it for little cost. The surface area of these pads is covered with an overlay making it difficult for the print to wear off. The standard hardtop mouse pad comes with a 3mm form base, but there are a number of versions that are much thinner.

Sounding 3D Blu-ray

Technology News, Now, with the release of "Goldberg Variations Acoustica" AIX has ventured into producing original 3D video programming. The new Blu-ray was shot with four prototype Panasonic 3D A1 cameras, and the sound was recorded in 96 kHz/24-bit high-resolution audio.

Technology News,This 3D Blu-ray boasts outstanding sound quality.
(Credit: AIX Records)
"Goldberg" maintains AIX's high standards for sound quality, but I'm an audio guy, so I called upon two of my video reviewer CNET colleagues, David Katzmaier and Matthew Moskovciak, to comment on the disc's 3D picture quality. They watched the Blu-ray on a Panasonic TC-P65VT25 display and were generally impressed. They liked the picture's depth, but expressed concerns about visible crosstalk, which can appear as doubled outlines around onscreen objects like the stand up bass' strings. Katzmaier and Moskovciak also felt the image wasn't as sharp as it could have been.

The crosstalk artifacts varied from shot to shot, but Moskovciak still felt the "Goldberg" Blu-ray might be the best live action 3D picture he's seen *in a home theater setting* (the 3D image quality of "Avatar" in a movie theater was better). Technology News
Regarding the crosstalk, Katzmaier felt it wasn't the disc's fault, and the crosstalk might not show up on future generations of 3D TVs. "Goldberg" is fully compatible with standard 2D Blu-ray players and displays, so you can enjoy the disc even if you don't own a 3D set. Thats for Technology News today
