IE9 Vs. Google Chrome
Okay, a piece of good news for Internet Explorer loyalists:
Finally, you guys can start falling in love with Internet Explorer 9 because it is said to be slightly better than Google Chrome. I know Chrome rocks, its super cool. As for me, I am using both Chrome and Firefox as default browsers. Heck, I don’t even remember when was the last time I used Internet Explorer. Probably, it was 10 years ago or something.
Anyway, the Microsoft browser will have its beta version launched this week. From what we’ve seen in the videos, IE9 beta has been blessed with new interface. It is a lot like Google Chrome but looks better.
How so? Well, word is that the IE9 guys installed some last minute visual upgrade plugins. The browser now shares its graphics based load with your VGA card. Your pages load supposedly faster and also look a tad bit appealing.
Brian Rakowski from Google Chrome’s dev team says, “I admit that Chrome 6 doesn’t do a lot of GPU assisted stuff but it is something that I and my team members have been working on. I think within a month or two, we’ll release something better and competitive enough to face the music.”
For now, we’ve to give it to Microsoft for its commendable effort. Pete LePage is Microsoft’s Senior Product Manager; he said that IE9 renders frames at 60Fps. The current build of Chrome only spins around 2 Fps, so we’re gonna have to try IE9 since it sounds too good to be true.
In the end, we all know that graphics aren’t everything. There are extensions, addons, plugins and 3rd party compatibility issues. Once IE9 is released, we’ll give it a full stress test to see if the browser is actually worth going for.
